Spells can be purchased using gems on the store page. Preferably, you collect the gems you have first to buy spells that are more expensive because it will help you in the game.
Cheap spell options, for example, you can buy Miner Gold Rush which will make miners work faster for 30 seconds, or you can also buy Swordwrath Rage which will double the attack speed of the Swordwrath unit. Have these two spells and save your remaining gems for spells that cost hundreds of gems.
